1. Welcome and Briefing

8.00 am
We meet in the lounge of The Shelbourne Hotel where you will be introduced to your fellow guests. Over morning coffee, we introduce you to your day ahead to experience Ireland’s Ancient East. After coffee, we transfer by executive limousine to Dublin’s Heuston Rail Station.

2. A Relaxed Train Journey through the Celtic Heartlands

9.00 am
We avail of Irish Rail’s City Gold (first class) service taking us on a  90 minute journey from the bustle of Dublin to Limerick Junction where we transfer by executive coach to Lough Gur.

3. A Private Tour of the Lough Gur Sites

11.00 am
Follow in the footsteps of ancient Celtic settlers. Wander back 6,000 years as you enter the Grange Stone Circle. Hear the stories. See these ancient monuments. Be intrigued by the construction of these sites.

4. Browse Bronze Age Artefacts at the Lough Gur Museum

A small museum where you can meet local staff who put your visit to the archaeological sites in context. See local artefacts and treasures. Experience the passion that the local community has generated for this mystical site deep in Ireland’s Ancient East.

5. Arrive inside this magical estate 

1.30 pm
After your visit to Lough Gur, a 20 minutes journey take you by executive coach to a 16th century estate. Imagine what awaits you inside.

6. Welcome inside 

On arrival, you be greeted by your host with a short introduction to this historic manor house. Over lunch in the dining room, enjoy home cooking with local specialities and ingredients from the estate. It’s a time to share stories, stories of the past with hints of Downton Abbey.

7. Living History

As you are escorted around, hear the owners’ passion for preserving this wonderful manor house. Hear the stories of local craftsmen dedicated to restoring this special family home.

8. Be amazed at the stories………….. 

Imagine what you’re going to see, smell the fragrance of fresh cut flowers, sense the unseen presence of previous generations.

9. Explore the estate

You are invited to wander around  the estate. Soak in its rich equestrian heritage. Hear the stories of riders who represented Ireland with distinction. Peer into the stables and wonder aloud.

As our afternoon comes to a close, we transfer back to Limerick Junction Station for the train trip back to Dublin and your hotel.
