We avail of Irish Rail’s City Gold (first class) service taking us on a 70 minute journey from the bustle of Dublin to Thurles  where we transfer by executive coach to The Rock of Cashel.

3. A Private Tour of The Rock of Cashel

10.30 am
Follow in the footsteps of the Queen and Prince Philip, hear the stories of this ancient fortification, where St. Patrick is reputed to have converted the Kings of Munster to Christianity.

4. Lunch at McCarthy’s Pub in the medieval town of Fethard.

While Ireland may have lost many of its traditional pubs to modernity, here you’ll enjoy a real Irish pub experience. Walking in is like walking back in time to a bygone era. This pub oozes character…and characters.

5. The Medieval Magical Castle

2.30 pm
After lunch, we make the short trip by executive coach to the castle home of the other Queen Elizabeth. Imagine what lies beyond those fields.

6. A Garden Utopia

On arrival, you be greeted by your host here at her castle home. But, first, you are invited through her garden, a series of outdoor rooms, sensual smells, unexpected artistic installations which lead down to the river where barges toiled in medieval times.

7. Venture inside………….

As you venture inside, who knows what await you. These medieval fortifications were built for protection, to keep the enemy at bay. As you ascend stone stairs, just image soldiers and archers of yesteryear, swords at the ready, arrows drawn.

8. Be amazed at the stories…………..

Imagine the stories, think about the questions you have…Why? How? No way?

9. You arrived as a guest; now you’re a new friend….

Its time to relax again; who knows where the conversations may go. Now you are part of the story. As your afternoon comes to a close, transfer back to Thurles Station for the train trip back to Dublin and your hotel, cherishing the memories of this special trip.
