TOUR ITINERARY

Welcome and Briefing

8.00 am
We meet in the lounge of The Shelbourne Hotel where you will be introduced to your fellow guests. Over morning coffee, we introduce you to your day ahead to experience Ireland’s Ancient East. After coffee, we transfer by executive limousine to Dublin’s Heuston Rail Station.

A Relaxed Train Journey through the Celtic Heartlands

9.00 am
We avail of Irish Rail’s City Gold (first class) service taking us on a  90 minute journey from the bustle of Dublin to Limerick Junction where we transfer by executive coach to Lough Gur.

A Private Tour of the Lough Gur Sites

11.00 am
Follow in the footsteps of ancient Celtic settlers. Wander back 6,000 years as you enter the Grange Stone Circle. Hear the stories. See these ancient monuments. Be intrigued by the construction of these sites.

Browse Bronze Age Artefacts at the Lough Gur Museum

12.00am
A small museum where you can meet local staff who put your visit to the archaeological sites in context. See local artefacts and treasures. Experience the passion that the local community has generated for this mystical site deep in Ireland’s Ancient East.

Lunch at this Wonderful Irish Thatched Pub

1.30 pm
After your visit to Lough Gur, a 20 minutes journey takes you by executive coach to one of our favourites Irish pubs. This pub is a favourite with locals and not a tourist in sight. It’s local, it’s authentic and it’s special.

A Real Irish Castle…

After lunch, we make the short journey to an amazing private Irish castle. It’s probably the longest continually inhabited Irish castle. Just image what lies ahead of you as you are welcomed inside.

Living History

As you are escorted around, hear the owners’ passion for preserving this wonderful medieval castle. Hear the stories of past generations and stories of the family living in this amazing castle. Imagine that stories you’re going to take away.

As our afternoon comes to a close, we transfer back to Limerick Junction Station for the train trip back to Dublin and your hotel.
